Differentiation
- Students in social studies classes can discuss the aspects of equity and accessibility and the role that they play in recycling and other climate solutions.
- Economics classes can do a recycling cost/benefit analysis on the different materials that get recycled and discuss how producers are being incentivized to play a role in this act.
- Civics classes can map out the process through which this bill became an act.
- Language arts classes can write a persuasive letter to their own state politicians asking them to look to Oregon to improve their own state's recycling system.
This podcast episode goes over the (at the time) proposed Plastic Pollution and Recycling Modernization Act and all the ways it would be beneficial. Please note that this bill became law in 2022. This resource is recommended for teaching.
